FAQ'sFrequently asked questions

We know how many fear the dentist, we want to eradicate that fear and empower you to go on the journey you may have avoided for so long, by answering your questions and bringing you the experts that care.

The sooner the better! This allows us as much time as possibly to comprehensively plan your treatment journey, and enable us to achieve the smile you are hoping for!

Most people will experience some sensitivity to some extent. This is really variable but the majority of the time is minor and easily managed using the advice that we give you when you get your whitening trays and gel

No - composite bonding is referred to as 'minimally invasive', as we use it additively (just adding to the surface of the tooth) instead of needing to do any drilling! For this reason the teeth ideally need to be as straight as possible first, but it means that it is just your natural tooth as normal underneath

Composite bonding tends to last about 4-6 years - it won't suddenly all fall off, but it will begin to pick up staining over time, and lose its shine. It's normally at roughly this time that clients would like it replacing to get it looking as good as new again! Regular polishing maintenance appointments (once per year) helps to maintain it too.

With any type of orthodontic treatment, there is the risk of 'relapse', meaning the teeth could move back to where they started. This is why it is absolutely essential to wear retainers to prevent this. For the first few months after active treatment, the retainers need to be worn full time, and after this they need to be worn at night time for as long as you want the teeth to stay straight!
